What goes into a photoshoot.
All photographers have been asked to work for free in their time. It’s normal to do free shoots when you first start out, you need a portfolio so you work with a team who all work for prints/cd. What is not normal is when you have been shooting for years and still get taken advantage of. Your cousin’s best friend, your friends friend, your auntie, your next door but one neighbour, they...

2012 plans
With the new year already 3 days in, today I’ve been busy planning my goals for the year and for the future with my photography. I’m ashamed to say I’ve never really done this but I guess it’s quite important in order to grow. I hope to tick off all of these this year but if not a few would be nice!
So my goals for 2012 are….
1. Get my work published (this is...

Harper Collins shoot
As I stated in a previous blog post a little further down the page, I had an exciting shoot which was the biggest work I’d done so far. Now I can reveal what it is…In August I received an email from Harper Collins saying that they had found a photo of mine online and wanted me to shoot something similar for a book cover. At first I thought it was a windup, Harper Collins couldn’t...

Autumn planning.
Just a pic I took on my iPhone on the park near my house.
Today I’m planning some Autumn shoots, lots of moodboarding and stuff! Hoping to get some submissions in to some magazines as soon as possible, it’s about time I get some more published work. Autumn is my favourite time of year esp when it’s cold but the sun is shining through the gorgeous orange trees. The most perfect...

Top Secret Shoot!
Last month I recieved an email from someone rather exciting and they wanted me to do a shoot for them. I can’t reveal too much until the photos are approved but it is the biggest work I have done so far and I’m very happy that they found my photos on Flickr! I sent them a couple of model ideas and they liked my friend Sammy best so I got together with her and my fave make up artist...

Dot.Dot.Dot Magazine Behind The Scenes
In July I shot with some amazing people for a submission to a lovely new magazine Dot.Dot.Dot. The theme for the issue is colour and it will be out in October.
Here are some behind the scenes photos and a little preview. The preview is in B&W so as not to give too much away before the magazine is out! The shoot was really fun and luckily the weather was lovely and sunny.

August 6th Wedding
On August 6th I had a very busy day. Incase you didn’t know I also do bridal make up and on this day I had 3 wedding make ups and a wedding photography job all by 2pm! To say I was tired after was an understatement. That day I did about 10 peoples make up and wedding photography is always a stressful job. I choose not to do too many as my head can’t handle the pressure!! I am always so...

Little Navajo & The Black Widow
One of the key trends for this Summer has been Native American/Aztec (and I’m glad that it’s still in fashion for A/W!) and I have to admit I’m a little in love with it. I’ve always liked Dreamcatchers and remember having them in my room when I was little. I decided I wanted to do a shoot with the same theme and ordered a Red Indian Headdress a while ago and never got...

Sarah Beake Spring Shoot
Sarah is an awesome model I’ve worked with a couple of times, she’s signed to alot of agencies and knows exactly what she’s doing. No direction is needed when working with Sarah! Spring with a touch of gothic drama!?!?

Abandon shoot
A couple of days ago I shot my boyfriend’s band Abandon’s promo shots with their new guitarist Tom. This is the 3rd time I’ve shot them as they keep having line up changes but fingers crossed this one is for keeps!
The location wasn’t great but they needed them doing quickly so there was no time for creativity.

Wedding January 2011
On January 29th I travelled to Oakham, Rutland to shoot the wedding of Ben & Lianne. They were a lovely couple and I had a fab day. Don’t get me wrong, it was stressful and scary but fab all the same!! Their 2 little girls were beautiful and the younger one wanted her photo taking all the time so I ended up with quite a few of her!
Here are a tiny selection of over 200 finals I sent to...

Rebekah Hemsley & Sarah Gosnell
I think these are some of my fave pics I’ve ever taken. Of course it does help that the model is gorgeous and the MUA is fantastic!
I met up with Rebekah and we headed to Boots to meet the make up artist Sarah who works at Lancome. We went for a wintery berry lip and golden smokey eyes with dramatic brows. Rebekah & I then headed to the backstreets of Nottingham where all the gorgeous...

Lisa Duxbury Shoot
This is my first shoot of 2011. It’s good to be back into the swing of things, haven’t done a shoot since October! I decided I wanted a bit of a break from it all for a few months as it was getting a bit frustrating with shoots being cancelled and stuff. But glad I came back and I’m pleased with the results of this shoot.

Bridal Shoot
This was my first bridal shoot with the lovely Jo who got married 2 months before. Her dress was beautiful. This was mainly for my make up portfolio as I’m starting out as a bridal make up artist so I wanted some pretty pics.
We did the shoot at Rufford Abbey in Nottinghamshire.

Sarah Beake A/W Editorial shoot
26.09.2010
This has got to be one of my favourite ever shoots. It is very rare that I come home from a shoot and like 90% of over 300 photos that I took. I found it so hard to narrow these down and ended up editing over 40 photos. And I enjoyed every minute of it. Something new there! It was just a basic autumn/winter fashion shoot with an editorial style. We went for the backstreets of...

Designer shoot
This shoot was with a local designer who’s work really caught my eye as it was so different to anything I’d ever shot before. We did the shoot at Titchfield Park as it’s local to me and the designer and Amy Caranante came over after work at 6pm. We had limited time due to the light going down but we got some gorgeous Lady GaGa inspired shots.

Moulin Rouge Studio Shoot
We went to Studio 50 for this shoot, I love shooting in the studio, it’s warm and rain can’t ruin it. We did have problems with the lights not looking right at first but we sorted that and got some really cool photos in the end. Rochelle was recreating the make up from the Make Up Forever Moulin Rouge campaign which is gorgeous.

The Flower Girl
This was a shoot I did in Nottingham with a beautiful girl called Georgina who was over on holiday from Canada. She really was so pretty! Laura Harrison did make up going for a natural look to go with the flowers and summery feel of the shoot. Before the shoot I spent ages making the flower headbands which I think really added to the feel of the shoot.
We shot in the Arboretum which is a place...

Shoot with Emy Lou
My friend Emy came to mine for another shoot. We’ve modelled for each other a few times now, she’s a really lovely and beautiful girl! I always enjoy working with her.
The weather was so cold for the shoot and I think this definately affected the photos, we were both shivery! But we managed to get a few good ones!
We went to a church first (where I was christened many moons ago!) and...
Leicester Shoot
I travelled to Leicester to meet my friend Sammy for this shoot. We’ve worked together many times, she’s a fab girl! We went back to Sammy’s house for Zanira to do make up then went into Leciester to some buildings covered in graffiti which looked awesome!
